Electroplated CBN and Diamond Grinding Wheels

The abrasive grains in electroplated CBN and diamond grinding wheels are held in a durable nickel matrix. This results in large grain pro-trusion and excellent retention of the abrasives. These products are well suited for applications where high material removal rates are required.

A further application are grinding processes with high requirements on the profile accuracy of the workpiece. The profile of the grinding wheel is specified primarily by the geometry of the body. Additionally the profile accuracy is determined by a suitable plating technology. This ensures that no time consuming and costly dressing is necessary. The grinding wheels are immediately usable. Electroplated wheels display high abrasion and deformation resistance which leads to consistent performance and long tool life. Very high temperature resistance and a “cool” burn free grinding process are additional advantages when grinding with CBN.

Plating Technology

By the new plating technology developed by DR. KAISER the concentration of CBN or diamond deposited during the plating process can be modified precisely. This means that the number of abrasive grains and the chip space in the grinding layer can be fine tuned for each specific grinding application.

Production and Re-plating

DR. KAISER offers both develpoment and production of new grinding wheels as well as strip, repair and re-plating of used grinding wheels.
